You say that you developed your own Graphite/Moly mixture, can you tell me how you did that and how you came up with the comparison’s to the other brand’s? Yes, we can tell you. But first let me tell you why we did this. We have been in and around the Pinewood Derby arena for years and there are ProTools, Car Kits, Decals, Speed Wheels and Axles and other things made specifically for Pinewood Derby Racing. But, there was not a Dry Lubricant which is the one important requirement of every car that is racing. Everyone is forced to use a product that is made commercially for another use. Hob-e-Lube was made for Model Trains, BSA White Teflon is for plastic gears, Tube-o-Lube is made for industrial and mechanical applications and so on. There is not a dry graphite/moly based lubricant available to Pinewood Derby consumers that was Specifically Formulated for Pinewood Derby Cars. Until Now! We decided it was time that someone do this. We invested many dollars and hours into producing two levels of lubricants that perform better then average for the average car builder and an Extreme lubricant that costs a little more, but out performs any dry lubricant on the market and all of the known commercially available wet lubricants that are used in adult hobby leagues such as WIRL. We have written a white paper that details how we accomplished the long and tedious task of developing our own formula’s for our three grades of dry graphite/moly lubricant. Please email us for a copy of that white paper.
I just received one of your pre-cut cars and it’s not ready to paint? Why? All of our pre-cut cars are exactly that, just pre-cut. We give them a quick light sanding to removes any wood burr’s or splinters, but that is it. We strongly believe in the principles behind the Pinewood Derby races. It’s meant to bring you and your child together for quality time and for them to learn how build a car. The pre-cut cars require sanding with at least two grades of sand paper prior to sealing the wood and painting the car. We provide, as an option with your purchase, a “ Complete Car Finishing Kit” that would allow a child and parent to complete the car and get it ready to paint.
You say that I should check my race rules to make sure the wheels and axles I want to buy are allowed by my organization, how do I find those rules? That is a very good question, If you are racing in a Boy Scouts of America Pinewood Derby race then you should contact your Cubmaster, Den Leader or Committee Chairperson for a copy of those rules. You can find the basic Pinewood Derby Rules here, but every Pack, District and Council in the world can modify those rules if they choose. For a Girl Scouts of America Powder Puff Derby race, contact your troop leader. If you are racing in a Awana, Indian Guides, Royal Rangers, Royal Ambassadors, or another organization, then please contact the leader of your group. For WIRL members, go here for current rules. |
